Effect of the principal's emotional intelligence, work climate and job satisfaction on organizational commitment of teachers in european adventist institutions
Abstract
This study examined how principals’ emotional intelligence influences work climate, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment, considering the mediating role of climate and job satisfaction. One hundred forty-two teachers from seven countries of the Inter-European Division of Seventh-day Adventists were surveyed using standardized questionnaires to measure principals’ emotional intelligence, work climate, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment. Data were analyzed through path analysis to assess the direct and indirect effects among the variables. The results indicated that principals’ emotional intelligence positively influences work climate (β = .75) and indirectly affects organizational commitment (indirect β = .62) through work climate and job satisfaction. The model fit analysis showed an excellent fit to the data, explaining 61 % of the variance in organizational commitment and providing valuable insights into interactions within Adventist educational settings, with implications for educational management in such contexts.
