Spiritual health and family functioning as predictors of academic self-efficacy in students at aprivate university northeastern Mexico
Abstract
Academic self-efficacy plays a crucial role in students' academic goals. The purpose of this study is to determine whether the level of spiritual health and family functioning are significant predictors of academic self-efficacy. A quantitative, correlational/predictive, descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted with a sample of 273 residential students from a private university in northeastern Mexico. The results of multiple linear regression analysis indicated that spiritual health and family functioning explain 33% of the variance in academic self-efficacy. In other words, when students have a connection with a higher being, with themselves, with the environment, and perceive support from their families, it generates higher levels of efficacy in their academic skills, which could aid in their academic performance.
